Festival of Learning

Inspiring 5,000+ children and teens each year.

A major focus of the Algoma Fall Festival is the delivery of our arts outreach and education program. The Festival of Learning facilitates professional artists interacting and sharing knowledge and expertise with learners of all ages through performances, concerts and hands-on workshops. Students will also visit local cultural sites including the Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site, the Art Gallery of Algoma, the Sault Ste. Marie Museum and the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.

Lawren Harris Exhibition

Experience the “Group of Seven” Exhibition featuring the co-founder - Lawren Harris, allowing students to “experience his journey of inspiration” through modern technology.

Seven Grandfathers Teachings

Of all the North American Indigenous teachings, the 7 Grandfather Teachings are the most commonly shared from coast to coast. Workshops will introduce traditional First Nations dances which take the participants through four main Pow Wow dance steps from across Canada; Beginner Ballet, which focuses on the concept of bravery and Yoga which integrates the concepts of seven wisdoms.

Next Generation Leahy

Doug, Jennifer and their six musical children are Next Generation Leahy; a family who thrive on sharing the music they’re passionate about. The group will be performing for students and introducing them to the Celtic traditions of dance and music. The Festival of Learning is made possible through the generous support of our sponsors.
