Heather Bambrick and Diane Leah of Broadsway share their collective 100+ years of performance (yowsa!!) in informative, interesting, and interactive workshops. Together they discuss various topics, including vocal tone, stylistic idiomatic practices in Jazz, Pop, and Cabaret, microphone technique, song selection and connection, collaboration and communication with accompaniment, ensemble singing, and more.
Their Experience
Both collectively and individually, the members of Broadsway have extensive music education experience, and are in demand as educators and mentors!
Heather Bambrick has served as a faculty member at both the University of Toronto Jazz Studies Department and Humber College, and has also been a seasonal instructor at the Royal Conservatory of Music and at the Etobicoke School of the Arts. Heather has worked as an adjudicator / clinician for the Ontario Vocal Festival, the Kiwanis Festival, Musicfest Canada, the Brandon Jazz Festival, the Rocky Mountain Jazz Festival, Alberta Choral Fest, and others. She has also conducted clinics and workshops for the Toronto District School Board, Peel District School Board, Kincardine Summer Music Festival, the Toronto Jazz Festival, Mohawk College, the Beaches International Jazz Festival, National Music Camp, Capilano College, Randolph Academy, as well as for a number of choral festivals and events in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, BC, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Diane Leah has been a vocal / audition / pop / musical theatre coach in the Toronto area for over 30 years. In addition, she has served as an instructor at the Randolph Academy of Dramatic Arts. Over the past twenty years, Diane has been Music Director for several shows at the Randolph Academy, as well as at Young People’s Theatre, one of which (A Year with Frog and Toad) earned her a Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination. Diane was Director of Music at the Metropolitan Community Church in Toronto for more than 20 years, leading the choir at such events as World Pride, UFMCC in Acapulco, Mexico, the Celebration of Life for Jack Leyton, and the Olympic Torch Relay.
How to Apply / Register
Applicants to the Master Class will be entered into a lottery. Six names will be drawn and those performers will join two cast members from local productions of The Addams Family and Elf on Tues, Oct 4 at 6:30pm at the Pavilion at the Water Tower Inn.
Deadline for entry is Mon, Oct 3 by 12pm. The lottery draw will take place Mon, Oct 3 at 1pm and selected artists will be contacted. All applicants, please fill out the application above and attach your vocal selection. NOTE: you do not have to be an applicant to attend and audit the class. Please consider auditing the class for your own benefit.
